The Voice Within: When Your Inner Critic Gets Loud
We talk a lot about the inner goddess voice — the voice of intuition, empowerment, healing, and truth.
But what about the other voice?
The one that whispers unkind things.
The one that can be downright cruel.
The one that seems to grow louder the moment you begin stepping into your power.
You start healing.
You begin learning.
You start building confidence.
You begin reconnecting with the goddess within.
And suddenly… that inner voice starts panicking.
Let’s talk about that.
Mine can be incredibly harsh at times. Mean. Persistent. Convincing. Even when it is completely wrong, it fights desperately to be believed.
Lately, I have felt that voice getting louder.
Almost like it is crying out in fear:
“Who do you think you are?”
Maybe you have heard that voice too.
The one that tells you that you are not enough.
That your worth is negotiable.
That you should stay small.
That you are an imposter and one day everyone will find out.
These untruths can live inside of us for years, even while healing is happening. Even while growth is happening. They can become so familiar that we mistake them for truth.
But they are not truth.
So what do we do with that inner voice?
How do we calm it?
How do we remind ourselves that we are safe?
First… breathe.
Pause.
Listen carefully.
Ask yourself:
Are these thoughts actually true?
Where did I first learn to believe these things about myself?
Whose voice was it before it became my own?
I still struggle with these negative voices more than I care to admit. But I am sharing this because I no longer want them to control me.
I want those voices to soften.
I want them to quiet down enough for me to hear the truth.
The truth that I am strong.
Capable.
Worthy.
Powerful.
Beautiful.
Enough.
And maybe that is part of the healing journey — learning to reframe the thoughts we once accepted as truth.
Maybe the inner critic never disappears completely.
But perhaps, over time, a truce can emerge.
As we continue to grow…
continue to heal…
continue to transform…
Maybe one day we stop fighting ourselves so fiercely.
Maybe one day that voice no longer leads.
And every single day, we remind ourselves:
I am worthy.
I am whole.
I am powerful.
I am a Warrior Goddess.
And so are you, beautiful soul.
Every part of you is worthy.
With love,
J
